Along with all its joys, becoming a mother brought with it some sobering realizations for Sally and her husband. Both her sons faced severe health challenges and her own body had changed with the pregnancies creating new limitations in her own quality of life as well.

In short order, Sally started learning about food and the incredibly important part it played in her family's health and well-being. She had unleashed a new passion for creating healthy, nutrient-dense, tasty recipes that her kids LOVED and building a lifestyle of wholesome eating and robust health. Soon people were asking about the secret to her success and she drew upon her natural enthusiasm to write her first book, Lunchbox Love, and launch her new career as a sought-after author, speaker and educator.

Sally is privileged to share her hard-won knowledge about conventional food, additives and production methods that rob people of their innate right to health. Once informed of the problems with modern industrial food, many people find they are unable to go back to pre-packaged, over-processed "Franken food".

But rather than feeling overwhelmed, Sally leaves audiences empowered, entertained and motivated with easy ideas on how turn healthy-eating and cooking into easy and tasty family fun, instead of a daily chore.

Rolling with Life's Punches

"Like you, I have learned many things on life's journey. A big one is that just when you think you have things figured out something will happen to remind you that you don't. Little things are easy enough to take in stride, just a small detour here and there. It's the big ones that can de-rail you.

When apparent disaster strikes, you have two choices: lie down and give up, or get up, dig in and deal with things head-on. It's a chance (often VERY well disguised) to look for greater meaning and blessings, because they are always there – really.

My life was going great, had the world by the tail, had happy, healthy kids, great jobs, beautiful house – and then one afternoon in late February 2009 I received a phone call that would cause me to question every aspect of my life that I held true and dear.

My husband was dying and I was one hour away.

When I got to him he was in the throes of a severe heart attack and not expected to survive. It was minute-by-minute and the longest, scariest night of our lives, but he pulled through. He survived but our lifestyle as we knew it was over – the carnage complete.

How do we go on with this new reality? Fragile health, a career in tatters, bills to pay. How do we pick up the pieces of a life we thought we had all figured out and build a new normal? One day at a time!"
